Bagge’s Black Bird is an unidentified bird, reported near Lake Bujuku, south of Mount Speke in the Ruwenzori Range, Uganda.

Only one observation was made. Stephen Bagge’s guide recorded a number of these birds in 1898 at an altitude of 9,000 feet.

Details

Bagge’s Black Bird is an unidentified bird of East Africa. Its physical descriptions state that it is a dark black color. It is nearly as large as a sheep; believed to be larger than any bird recorded. It has an alarm call similar to the bellow of a bull. It is located at Lake Bujuku, south of Mount Speke in the Ruwenzori Range, Uganda. It had only one significant sighting, as only one observation was ever recorded. It could have just been an oversized eagle.
