Primates are mammals characterized by forward-facing eyes, a high degree of shoulder mobility, grasping limbs, nails, and an upright torso. Primates evolved shortly after the extinction of the dinosaurs, in the Paleocene era, and diversified into two main groups: the strepsirrhines and the haplorhines.

In cryptozoology, there are many primates that are unknown to science, but are still reported. Some of the most notable are Bigfoot and Yeti.
