Could Bigfoot be the missing link?

Personally, I believe in bigfoot. So let's assume for the sake of the post that they exist. Since bigfoot is neither human nor ape, could he be the missing link? Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a noticable gap between us and our more monkey-like ancestors. What if we can't find the link because it never went extinct? Bigfeet (bigfoots?) remind me of what our ancestors might have looked like, but the thing is their height. Could they have evolved to be taller than the average human for survival purposes? And why would height be an advantage? Their feet look almost exactly like a humans, so that could be one thing linking them to us. This probably isn't something someone somewhere hasn't asked before (I apologize for the some's) but I guess I'm being impatient and I didn't really do research into the topic. Would love to hear from you guys!
